"Wings Of The Heart" Chocolate Reception
6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, February 24th in the Stuhr Building. The cost is $8 for one adult, $14 per couple and roses will be given to the first 50 people through the door.

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - Stuhr Museum will give visitors both a feast for the eyes and a treat for the taste buds during the "Wings of the Heart" opening reception on Thursday, Feb. 24, from 6-8 p.m.

The opening reception for the "Wings Over the Platte" Art Exhibit and Sale features a delectable array of chocolates and sweet beverages and music by pianist Katrina Gil. Last year this event was a popular Valentine’s Day destination for local couples and this year is shaping up to be bigger and better.

“Wings of the Heart” is a preview reception for the 23rd Annual Wings Over the Platte Art Exhibition and Sale which runs Feb. 25 through April 10. In honor of the upcoming Valentine’s Day holiday, the reception will also feature roses for the first 50 attendees.

For more than 20 years, the "Wings Over the Platte" Art Exhibit and Sale has been one of the largest, most prestigious art shows in the area, with state, regional and national artists depicting their vision of life on the Platte River and its tributaries.

This year is no exception, as breathtaking subject matter collides with dozens of artist's sensibilities to produce a show unlike any other in the area. Whether you live in Central Nebraska or are visiting in order to see the Sandhill Crane Migration, "Wings Over the Platte" is a must see. This year’s Featured Artist is Nebraska wildlife photographer Jason Jilg.

The cost is $8 for adults and $14 for couples who pre-order their tickets, with Stuhr Museum members admitted free. For more information, contact the museum at (308) 385-5316.
