Crane Migration Information

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - The beauty and splendor of the spring Sandhill Crane migration comes to Stuhr Museum February and March, with a multitude of events, presentations and exhibits to help locals and visitors get the most out of the season.
In partnership with the Grand Island Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Stuhr Museum will be hosting speakers in the Stuhr Building's auditorium on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays in March, when the migration is at its peak. Speakers range from nature specialists who will break down the migration from biology to sociology, to poets and photographers who will try to put into words the magnificence of seeing hundreds of thousands of birds roosting along the Platte River. Find the full list of speakers here.
The Museum is also celebrating the 20th Anniversary of "Wings Over the Platte," a nationally-known art show dedicated to art depicting life on the Platte River and its tributaries. This year's show features not only local, regional and national art from over 30 different artists, but also a retrospective from each of the year's past featured artists. This year's "Wings Over the Platte" features the fantastic landscape pieces of Nebraska artist Hal Holoun.
