Bayard Paine, Jr.
1920 Travel Journal to
Yellowstone National Park

The intrepid Bayard H. Paine family and cousin Samuel C. Huston and family are joined by the family of friend Dr. Hudson D. Fowler of Cleveland Ohio in an automobile trip from Grand Island, Nebraska to Yellowstone National Park in 1920.

The vehicles include two Hudson Super Sixes and a 1916 Cadillac Eight. The travelers took notes and impressions, kept records of expenditures and amassed a good collection of brochures, maps and snapshots of various places visited. The collection includes a handwritten journal of accounts kept by Bayard H. Paine, and a smaller handwritten account of the trip kept by Bayard Jr. It also includes photographs taken in Yellowstone during an earlier trip in 1912.
