Welcome to Stuhr Museum!

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - The story of Nebraska's role in the Civil War played out June 9 and 10 during the "Civil War Weekend" at Stuhr Museum.

During the event, historical interpreters focused on the need for people's militias during the years of the Civil War in Nebraska, since those who would usually serve in the prairie guard were off fighting in the North/South conflict. Because of that need, many who had no military experience or training picked up rifles and drilled to defend their land in case of attack.

Due in part to this unique perspective for an event, Stuhr's "Civil War Weekend" drew visitors locally and from across the state. For more information on this event or Stuhr's calendar of events, call (308) 385-5316 ext. 201.
