Joe, formerly Stuhr Museum’s Curator of Exhibits, earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Religion, cum laude, from Hastings College in 1997. Originally from Holdrege, Nebraska, and a Stuhr employee since 1997, Joe was responsible for all aspects of both long and short-term exhibits at Stuhr. He also served as Assistant Curator of Collections and as a Research Intern at the Museum.

Steve holds a Bachelor's Degree, summa cum laude, from Bellevue University in Business Administration. A Grand Island native, Steve joined Stuhr in 2003 and was previously with Chief Industries.

Mike Bockoven

Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, cum laude, in 2000. He joined Stuhr in 2007 after time as a reporter at the Grand Island Independent and is responsible for all of Stuhr's advertising and marketing projects.

Tom Oshlo

Tom Oshlo leads a team that is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Stuhr Museum and its grounds. He comes to the museum after a long, long history of contract work in Central Nebraska, and one day dreams of finishing the sod house he started near the log cabin.


Kay Cynova

Kay obtained a Bachelor of Science, Social Science Comprehensive with a History emphasis from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, magna cum laude, in 2002. Kay has been a part of the Stuhr Museum team since the late 1980s and has an extensive background in historical interpretation, along with the costuming, cooking, baking and gardening aspects of the 19th century.

Karen Keehr

Karen earned her Bachelor of Arts in History, cum laude, with minors in Sociology and Biology, from Winona State University in Winona, MN in 1996, and her Masters degree in History with emphasis in Public History in 1999 from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM. Part of the Stuhr team since 2000, Karen is a native of Minnesota and was previously an exhibit designer for the Kanabed County History Center in Mora, MN, as well as an intern at the New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.

Ann Atkins

Ann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Speech Communications with endorsements to teach English and Drama, from Hastings College. She was previously a teacher on staff at Stuhr, a substitute in the GIPS system, and a high school English and Drama teacher. Ann joined Stuhr in 2001 and has also been active in a variety of community organizations for parents, children, and education.

Leslie Vollnogle

Leslie earned her Master's degree in Library Science and her Bachelor of Science in History Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She earned a second Master's degree in Public History from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. She was a member of Phi Alpha Theta and Pi Gamma Mu. She has organized the photo collection at Stuhr as well as at the Fort Collins Public Library. Leslie is also a member of the Grand Island Literacy Council Board.

Kari earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1998. She joined the Stuhr staff in 2007 after managing Cindy Jacob’s Art Gallery in Kearney, Nebraska. She has worked with several exhibiting institutions including Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery, Merrick Auto Museum and the Museum of Nebraska Art.

Martha is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Marketing from Bellevue University and recently completed her Associate's Degree in Business Management from Central Community College. Martha has been with Stuhr since 2001.

Renae earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Family Consumer Science Education from Utah State University. She has continued her education by studying Deaf Communication in Gallaudet University in Washington D.C. She has been involved with Stuhr since 1996 in a variety of areas from interpreting, maintenance, research and education. Renae and her family are very involved in area Community Theater.

Pam holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, cum laude, in Social Science from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and an MS Degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. She previously taught secondary history and English in Lincoln and Omaha, NE, and in Chillicothe, Missouri, and was also the Admissions Director of Central Community College in Grand Island, NE. Pam is a current member of the College Park Board, the Nebraska Public Radio Foundation Board, the Equitable Bank Board, and Sunrise Rotary. Professional affiliations include the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the National Committee on Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Council of Nebraska, and the EndowNebraska Strategic Planning Committee.

Joan is a graduate of Doane College where she received her bachelor's degree cum laude in secondary education, speech communications and theater arts. She was most recently with Central Community College-Grand Island as Publications Coordinator. Joan also served as an administrative assistant with the education department of Stuhr Museum. She previously was executive director of school and community arts programs for the School District of Grand Island and former Grand Island local arts organization Community Arts Resource Personnel (CARP). Joan joined Stuhr in 2003.

Sharon Harder

Sharon has a Graphic Arts background and holds a certificate from Waynesville Vocational/Technical School. Prior to working at Stuhr, she was a licensed staff associate for Dee Price Insurance Agency Inc. and worked in the advertising department of the Grand Island Daily Independent. She is a member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board and Grand Island Kiwanis Club. Sharon joined the Stuhr Museum Foundation in October 2007.
