Sturh's 50th season kicks off in a big way on Saturday, May 6 with our annual "Visitor and Hall County Appreciation Day."

Everyone is invited to this annual free day from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday. As a special “thank you” for Hall County’s continued support the museum is throwing open our gates and letting everyone enjoy all the museum has to offer. During the day you can:

●Visit the 1890′s Railroad Town, our Living History community, where costumed interpreters live, work and play as if it’s 1897. From the blacksmith shop to the Mercantile to any of Railroad Town’s historic homes, you can go into the buildings, visit with the interpreters and learn about 1890’s life first hand.

●Check out the Farm Machinery Building featuring dozens of tractors, automobiles, planting machines and steam engines. Also visit the Fonner Rotunda, the Prairie Treasures Gift Shop, and many other locations. The Stuhr Building is not open at this time, but will open to the public on July 19th.

●Stroll through the Hornady Family Arbor where there will be free popcorn.

●Visit the Stuhr Building and the "Hall County Student Art Show" which will be ending its run during the weekend.

After the gates close at 5 p.m., Stuhr will re-set for a great evening event featuring outdoor movie for the entire family. The “Stuhr Under the Stars” event begins at 7:30 with historic games such as croquet and horse shoes in Railroad Town. Once the sun goes down, we will show the children's movie "Sing," the popular film from last year. Because the movie is about singing, we will also have karaoke available for kids to try before hand. Popcorn and other goodies will be available for purchase. Gates open at 7 and admission to “Stuhr Under the Stars” is $8 for adults and $6 for children. Members are admitted free. Please bring your own lawn chair.
