Stuhr Honored by the Boy Scouts for Merit Badge University

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - For a second time, Stuhr Museum was honored by the Pawnee District of the Boy Scouts of America for help hosting and organizing the annual "Merit Badge University." The award was given during a District dinner event on February 20th.

For three years, Stuhr's 200 acres has hosted over 500 Boy Scouts and their scout leaders representing 47 different troops from 5 states during "Merit Badge University," which takes place in the summer. During the event, the Boy Scouts travel both inside the confines of Stuhr Museum and out into the community to earn merit badges.

Other honorees include the Central Plains Chapter of the American Red Cross, the Grand Island Rural Fire Department, O'Connor Enterprises, Central Community College, Bailey's Plumbing and the Holiday Express Motor Coach Company.

Stuhr was chosen as the site of the event due to the unique space requirements and opportunities to earn merit badges on Stuhr's grounds. The museum is proud of the award and looks forward to supporting the Boy Scouts and their efforts as best we can.
