Cheers!

Seven young men toast the good life in 1890s Grand Island. All seven hold glasses of dark beer likely tapped from the keg at the center. This moment of levity was captured at Hann Park, a 20½-acre park stretching east from today's South Locust Street to about South Oak Street and south from about Koenig Street to Charles Street. Turner Hall, located along Locust Street within the park, featured a saloon, dance hall, and dinning room. Hann Park also boasted an outdoor dance pavilion, bandstand, snack bar and beer garden. The east end of the park was often used for sporting events such as bicycle racing, baseball, and football.
