Fred Glade went on to pitch in the major leagues with the old St. Louis Browns (1903-1907) and the New York Yankees (1908, then called the New York Highlanders). Glade's major league career included a no-hitter and a record 15 strikeouts in one game. His brother Phil Glade also played pro baseball. Both were sons of Henry Glade, proprietor of Grand Island's Glade Mill (a forerunner of today's ConAgra, Inc.).
