Can
you help me with my genealogical research?
Remember, the Stuhr
Museum's Research Department concentrates on gathering information and
artifacts relating to Hall County. If your research involves another
county, you are directed to the historical agencies in that location.
Do
you have birth, death, and marriage records?
Original vital statistics
are not held by the Research Department. However, our holdings do
include index cards for marriages up to 1914. Marriage records for
Hall County are held by the County Clerk's office. The Nebraska
State Historical Society has the county's marriage records on microfilm.
For birth and death records researchers are directed to a state office:

Can
you appraise my antiques?
The museum staff
cannot appraise artifacts of any kind. The Research Department
is unable to provide appraisals of monetary value of materials offered
as gifts, brought in for identification, or submitted for any other purpose.
The Internal Revenue Service regards libraries and museums as interested
parties, and appraisals prepared by them for gifts that they receive are
subject to question. Donors or other parties desiring appraisals
must themselves acquire and pay a qualified appraiser.
