Stuhr Museum's
Quilt Show

Saturday, February 2nd, 9 am to 5 pm
Sunday, February 3rd, 12 to 5 pm


The Stuhr Building turns into a Quilter's paradise for two days Feb. 2 and 3 with the annual Stuhr Museum Quilt Show. Instruction, shopping and inspiration will be on tap during this event, which features chances to listen, learn and sew along!

Come for the classes, door prizes, food and much more during this special event that's all about quilting!

Classes and Events

UFO: Conquer or Bust
8 a.m. to Noon Saturday
Bring to class one or more unfinished quilt projects and get the jump-start you need for completion. In this class, get all the inspiration necessary to finish a project on which you're stuck. Whether it's a technique, fabric decision, boredom, dislike or just plain inertia, we'll solve the problem of your UFO together. Bonus: Helpful ideas on finding time to sew!
Class Instructor: Diane Harris

Supplies for UFO: Conquer or Bust: A UFO of your choice (you can bring more and we'll try to get to them); the pattern if there is one and any fabrics or supplies you have for the project; a variety of other possible fabrics to incorporate (bring anything you think might work); basic sewing supplies and sewing machine.

*UFO is quilter jargon for unfinished object

Vintage Visions
1-5 p.m. Saturday
A fun half-day design exercise to release your creativity while you create an original piece using a vintage quilt block as your starting point. Learn basic design principles and expand your fabric vocabulary - mismatch fabrics for stunning results. Each student receives a vintage quilt block and coordinating fabric starters. This is a design-as-you-go process.
Class Instructor: Diane Harris

Supplies for Vintage Visions: Basic sewing supplies, sewing machine, rotary tools, design surface such as large piece of flannel, graph paper. Optional: color wheel. If you already own them, bring one or two grocery sacks of reproduction fabrics, any era and be prepared to share. Kit for the class: $20, payable to the instructor the day of the class.

Shows and Shopping

"Behind the Scenes at Quiltmaker Magazine"
1 p.m. Sunday
During this talk, Diane Harris, associate editor of Quiltmaker Magazine (and Nebraska native), presents a "behind the seams" look at the production of a leading quilt pattern magazine from start to finish. The presentation includes a trunk show of many published quilts still in the Quiltmaker collection. Great door prizes and lots of inspiration are an added bonus.

Stuhr Museum's "Flipped Quilts " Exhibit
Jan. 14 - Feb. 8
This show, from Stuhr Museum's collections, feature quilts that are traditional in nature, and those that have been changed to look more abstract. The exhibit features a wide variety of quilts and will be on display through Feb. 8. Learn more here.

Two floors of vendors will be on hand to sell fabric, patterns and tools. Vendors include:

Food
Creative Cuisine Catering is a food service business owned by Fayne Petersen and will provide food for the quilt show.  Based out of Marquette, a small town north of Aurora, Fayne has been serving central Nebraska with her unique brand of cuisine for over 18 years. She specializes in creative menus, from upscale cocktail parties to authentic ethnic celebrations, taking great pride in meals prepared-from-scratch, first-class service and professionalism Fayne has garnered a reputation for not only creative cuisine, but creative presentation with the serving table serving as a reflection of her decorative skills.
