GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM— Memorial Day will be celebrated in traditional fashion at Stuhr Museum Monday, May 28.
Memorial Day began shortly after the Civil War ended and is the day that we pay tribute to all of the sacrifices made by soldiers during the course of this country’s history. During the event, several special events will be held including:
11:30 a.m. : Procession from Railroad Town to the Rural Churchyard, where members of the Grand Army of the Republic will hold a brief service for soldiers who’ve served, and died in times of war.
2 p.m. : Railroad Town Silver Cornet Band will play a patriotic concert at the band shell in town followed by a Memorial Program and a stirring speech, presented by members of the G.A.R. Please help us pay tribute to all soldiers on this day.
Between events, guests are welcome to picnic on the grounds, stop by the Silver Dollar for lunch, and interact with the residents of Railroad Town as they work, play and reflect on Memorial Day.
