Hungry Planet
July 5 - October 5 in the Stuhr Building

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - What do the diets of the Ayme family in Ecuador have in common with the Revis family of North Carolina, the Ukitas of Japan, or with the extended family of Melahat Celik of Turkey? The answers, and much more about food from a global perspective can be found in “Hungry Planet: What the World Eats,” a new exhibit beginning July 5 at Stuhr Museum. The exhibit closes on October 5.

“Hungry Planet: What the World Eats” a fascinating photo essay documenting 12 families from 12 countries, provides a thought-provoking analysis of worldwide food consumption, examining what we as global citizens share - or lack. The exhibit is located in Cronin Hall in the Stuhr Building.

Visitors to Stuhr Museum will experience the exhibition’s over 40 color photographs which document the sharp contrasts and universal aspects of an essential human pursuit. In addition, Stuhr Museum will feature several artifacts from our collection dealing with food, and have a special section on the diets of the pioneer town builders of the 1890’s.

The exhibit is made possible by the Mid-America Arts Alliance and Exhibits USA. “Hungry Planet,” is a touring exhibit that has been shown around the United States and Canada.

Don’t miss your chance to see this illuminating exhibit. Docent tours are available upon request. For more information, call the museum at (308) 385-5316 or log onto www.stuhrmuseum.org.
