Sharing Through The Season
Canned Food Drive
Final Results:
Stuhr Museum - 2,246
Hastings Museum - 2,058

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM — After fierce competition and huge generosity from both communities, Stuhr Museum just beat Hastings Museum in pounds of food collected to win the third annual “Sharing Through The Season” food drive.
Stuhr Museum raised 2,246 pounds of food compared to Hastings Museum’s 2,058 pounds. Both museums began the competition in late November and carried on through the end of December, with donations going to local food pantries.
Through a combination of generous cash donations and area businesses gathering food at the workplace, Stuhr Museum was able to raise over a ton of food over the holiday season. Stuhr particularly wants to thank Wal-Mart North and Wal-Mart South, Equitable Bank, Home Federal Bank, 5-Points Bank, Dinsdale Chevrolet Cadillac GMC Hyundai BMW, Principal Financial Group and the hundreds of other individual donors for their help with the food drive.
The drive itself was created to draw attention to events at both museums during the holidays and to give the public an easy but effective way to help others during the final weeks of 2010. With a second consecutive year of more than 4,000 pounds of food raised by both museums, it’s gratifying to see so many not only get wrapped up in the competition, but to take action to make their community a better place.
