JAMES M. COX FOUNDATION For the 2005-2006 academic year, a limited number of scholarships are available for public schools from Hamilton and York Counties . These scholarships include funding for tuition and for transportation to attend Heritage Activities for Today’s Students (H.A.T.S.) classes at Stuhr Museum . H.A.T.S. classes are integrated, curriculum-based instructional units for kindergarten through sixth grade taught by professional instructors in period attire. The program serves over 18,000 Nebraska students each year. The James M. Cox Foundation supports the assistance of disadvantaged children residing in the counties locate in the eastern one-third of the state of Nebraska with special consideration accorded to disadvantaged children residing in Hamilton and York counties. An additional purpose of the Cox Foundation is to support cultural, educational, scientific, and character-building programs and projects that benefit youth in the state of Nebraska . The Cox Foundation further supports research and treatment of children’s diseases. The Cox Foundation provides children the necessary support, education, and training to enable them to become productive, self-reliant adults. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS— Scholarships are available for the 2005-2006 academic year. Students must attend Nebraska public schools located in Hamilton and York Counties. Scholarships provide tuition for H.A.T.S. classes, and for transportation stipends not to exceed $200 per school. Transportation stipends may reimburse mileage or cover the costs of bus rental. Scholarships are limited and are awarded on a first-come basis. HOW TO APPLY— Teachers interested in applying for the James M.
