This year, Stuhr Museum was proud to welcome Jill Metcoff and Diane Farris as the featured artists for this year's "Wings Over the Platte" art show and sale during "Cranes and Conversations" which took place Saturday, March 14th.
The duo spoke about the inspiration behind their "Cranes and Conversations" show currently up in the Stuhr Building.
In Cranes and Conversation, Jill incorporates portions of classic black-and-white photographs and handmade Japanese papers into complex collages. Each collage addresses a time and place where human and crane habitats intersect, from rural farms to highways and wetlands. The three pieces in the exhibit are the first of a series of ten, each of which measures approximately four by five feet. Future pieces range from the gathering of 1500 migrating Sandhills in front of her home every fall to an intimate reflection on Sandhills near her window.
