2009 Annual Fund Drive Results

GRAND ISLAND, STUHR MUSEUM - The Stuhr Museum Foundation is proud to announce they have raised more than $183,000 from 491 donors, including 158 new donors, during the 2009 “Pride of the Prairie” Annual Fund Drive. The totals were announced on Monday during a press conference at Stuhr Museum.

The foundation set a new kind of challenge goal in 2009: to recruit 75 new donors, whose gifts would be matched by a $15,000 challenge gift from an anonymous donor. In addition to the donor goal, the foundation also sought to raise $180,000 by mid-July. As of July 13, 2009, the foundation had recruited 158 new donors, or 211% of their goal, and $183,000 (102% of goal) from a total of 491 donors.

Using a theme “A Time Like No Other…”, and starting with an anonymous challenge gift of $15,000, the foundation tried several new tactics during this year’s annual fund drive, including a series of “Progressive Strolls” which allowed potential donors a chance to see “behind the scenes” of the museum. The strolls took place at the museum’s 1890s Railroad Town and included tours of historic sites and presentations by different museum departments.

The money raised from the annual fund drive goes toward sustaining Stuhr Museum’s programs and events, and to allow the museum to develop and schedule new programming. The leadership team for this year’s fund drive included co-chairs Marsha and Don Dunn and Andy and Erin Marsh, along with phone-a-thon co-chairs Marilyn Miller and Barbara Reilly, and staff campaign chair Renae Hunt.
